Multimedia company Talpa Network disagrees with the new regulations on gambling advertising on tv. This new regulation ensures that advertisements that promote online games of chance disappear from the tube. Talpa has benefited from the many advertisements for online casinos such as Toto, BetCity and Lucky Nugget that have been broadcast on TV in recent months. If a ban were to come, it would of course be a financial blow for Talpa and other companies such as RTL.

Soon there were complaints from politics. Minister of legal protection, Franc Weerwind, then decided to amend the regulations.

From the beginning of this year, gambling advertisements were only allowed to be broadcast at later times. Also, from July 1, 2023, it was no longer allowed to show well-known New Zealanders in such gambling advertisements.
