Split if you have double 8

However, the only set of doubles worth splitting is a pair of 8s. 16 is the worst hand you can get in Blackjack, it's too low to win the average round (dealer has an average of 17), but high enough that you often don't bust when you take another card. You therefore have much better chances of winning the hand if you split the eights and take another card or two. Outside of 2 eights, no other pair is worth splitting.
