Online gambling has recently been legalized in the state of New York, which is why there are plenty of casinos that want to settle in this state on the east coast of America. For now, three casinos moving to New York is not for everyone. The license fee for operating a casino in New York will amount to $1 billion.

The New York State Gaming Commission has determined that a license must cost 1 billion for casinos that want to settle in New York City. This 1 billion goes into the treasury of the state of New York.

“We're looking forward to about $ 2.5- $ 3 billion in revenue and educational funds and good jobs,” senator Joe Addabbo said of the casino licenses in the downstate, according to PlayNY . “You're talking about thousands of construction jobs and post-construction jobs, and as an elected official, that's what your dream is: finding work for your people, especially after the pandemic.”

According to Addabbo, the Senate sees it realistic that parties in the industry are willing to pay $ 1 billion for the license. “We know the value of having a gambling license in New York, especially in the downstate,” said the senator, claiming that there is “a party” willing to pay $ 1 billion upfront.

Licences should have been issued by 1 december 2023 and fees should be paid by that date. The initial duration of the permits would be 10 years each, with extension at the discretion of the state regulator. So maybe New Zealand tourists in New York can also visit a casino.
