The Cologne Regional Court has ruled that an online casino must reimburse a German player $25,375. The player lost it. online casino games while the casino was not in possession of a German license. The player played online casino games hosted by the unnamed casino operator between October 2017 and april 2020. The operator was based in Gibraltar and did not have the appropriate license to offer casino games in the area in Germany where the player came from.

The actions of the online casino violated Section 4, paragraph 4 of the German state Treaty on gambling in force at that time. The German player could visit the German-language website and play on it while this is not allowed by law. Here the casino went into the wrong so that the operator now has to pay back the money. The court ruled that the casino had no legal grounds to obtain the player's money.

Not everyone gets off so well that they get the lost money back from the casino. Previously, similar cases have already been filed against online casinos. in doing so, the court found that the plaintiffs had violated the law by gambling illegally and therefore had no grounds for reimbursement.

On the other hand, there are also plenty of examples of gamblers who do get their money back. Earlier this month, for example, the Osnabruck District Court ruled that a player gets almost $10,000 back from an online casino for the same reason that the aforementioned player gets over $ 25,000 back.
