Alec Gores is an avid poker player who regularly appears in high-roller cash games. He appeared in Molly's Game, a high stakes poker game with celebrities such as Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire. This poker game brought a lot of controversy not much later when a manager of an investment fund turned out to have played with money earned in a pyramid scheme. Brad Ruderman lost tons at that poker table which ultimately turned out to be obtained from dishonest activities. Ruderman lost $445,000 to Alec Gore. In the courtroom, the judge ruled that Alec Gore should return the money. Which Alec ended up doing without morren. However, other players made a deal that did not require them to give all their winnings back to the victim.

Bilzerian said he won $1.6 million that night. Which may have been a nice taste for the $100 million cash game that is rumored to be in the works.
Dan Bilzerian States in his own podcast about the battle with Gores: “that guy Alec [Gores], he saw my podcast and he texted me, I said I beat him for about $ 40- $ 50 million, and he said,’oh, the amount wasn't that high,’” Bilzerian said on the website podcasts. "He said ‘' I want to play heads-up against you, let's see who has the biggest balls for $ 25 million apiece."After which Bilzerian indicated to increase the amount to $50 million dollars per person.
