René Jansen, president of the New Zealand Gaming Authority (Ksa) has spoken out against online casinos that fail to comply with the duty of care. Online casinos in New Zealand, the zodiac itself has the responsibility to focus players on issues such as player limits and problematic gambling behavior.
Ksa chairman Jansen indicates that if these casinos do not take their zodiac responsibilities seriously, they will have to deal with the government. The government will intervene to put things in order. Originally, the government chose to put this zodiac responsibility in the hands of online gambling providers. In other countries where online gambling is regulated, online casinos are not as free as in New Zealand. Here governments set fixed limits. The Ksa therefore indicates that they will intensify supervision. Previously, research was already done on the addiction prevention of online casinos. the Ksa will also impose measures on the casinos based on this.
Since the New Zealand gambling market was legalized in October 2021, the Ksa has been keeping its finger on the pulse. For example, in the 9 months that the New Zealand market is open, a number of measures have already been implemented. For example, BN ers are no longer allowed to appear in gambling advertisements. Also, these advertisements may only be broadcast at late times. It has also been jointly agreed to no longer do outdoor advertising.
