f furlong-in horse racing, distances are often listed per furlong or f . 1 furlong is equal to 201 meters. On the flat courts, competitions of 6f or 6 furlong are often held. This is a short sprint race of over 1.2 kilometers.
m miles-in longer distance horse racing, the distance is often stated With miles. 1m, 2m or 3m for example, often in the hurdle jumping the races are over a longer distance. 1 mile is equal to 1600 meters.
Each – Way-with an Each Way bet you place a double bet that the horse wins or that the horse places at the first spots. In most races, this means finishing in the top 3. It depends on the horses that are involved. Sometimes this is the top 2, but can also be the top 6 if there is a large field of participants.
Handicap-each horse is given extra weight to make the race fair. The best horse will carry the heaviest weight and the least good horse will carry the lightest weight. Thus, good form is punished with a heavier weight.
